About This Campaign
In commemoration of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, Blak Shepard WEF organised the "This Little Light of Mine" outreach on 22 April 2026 at Comprehensive Secondary School Edemaya, Akwa Ibom State. The outreach was designed to increase awareness on sexual assault and harassment while empowering young girls with the knowledge, confidence, and support systems they need to protect themselves and speak up.
Approximately sixty (60) female students took part in educational sessions, interactive discussions, motivational talks, and confidence-building activities. In a dedicated "Let Your Light Shine" session, the girls repeated words of affirmation in one voice — reinforcing messages of confidence, courage, self-worth, and positivity.
Outreach Highlights:
- Awareness sessions on recognising abuse, personal boundaries, and reporting
- "Let Your Light Shine" confidence and self-worth building
- Interactive question-and-answer and open discussion sessions
- Distribution of "This Little Light of Mine" coloring books with ArtReach Africa
- Relief bags with notebooks, colouring supplies, sanitary pads, and snacks

The provision of sanitary pads supported menstrual dignity and the wellbeing of adolescent girls. With your support, we can expand "This Little Light of Mine" to additional schools, provide more educational and safeguarding resources, and sustain mentorship for the girls we reach.
